There are many kinds of magnetic sensors made by using various physical phenomena. The magnetic needle is an early magnetic sensor used by the compass to detect the direction. In recent years, the most used one is the solid magnetic sensor. Magnetic sensors can be used not only to detect magnetic fields, but also to detect current and various mechanical quantities.
